The meaning of the word to an MD is digestive problems from the Esophagus to the opening between the small intestine and the large intestine or colon? To a DVM it means, a normal, natural or un-natural abdominal problem, that occurrs in every part of the digestive system from the Esophagus to the Anus! MD's have another word for a normal, natural occurring problem from the large colon to the Anus, Constipation!
According to Merck Veterinary Manual, the #1 Colic, that kills horses each year, is caused by Impactions at the Pelvic Flexure. What causes them is in layman's terms, Impactions caused by, Loss of Motility, caused by, Loss of Ionic Solutions, caused by dehydration of the bowels!

The Pharmaceutical companies produce RX drugs and narcotics, then do a blind test study on the drug by using one lab to provide the drug for the animal test subjects and a 2nd lab to administered and monitor results! When the test is over, the lab decides if it works, by the results based on the subjects reactions to either a placebo or the real drug! Still The FDA approves drugs using these tests and Veterinarians defend and praise these drugs, even though they have a laundry list of side effects, and sometimes they're fatal!
These companies irruptively, undeniably refuse or fail to produce a natural product like ECR, that works with not against the body's natural processes to stop a normal bout of colic, from killing horses!
