Clinical Stages for Colic below were used to determine the Response Time in a subject during an Event of Colic .
Stage 1. The horse may present with physical signs of pain, distention little or no bowel motility, appear lethargic, moody depressed and gums appear light pink or pale.
Stage 2. The horse may present with physical signs of increased pain, distention, gray gums, no bowel motility, elevated heart rate and/or temperature and profuse sweating.
Stage 3. The horse may present with physical signs of Stage 2 and may lay down, rise repeatedly, stretch out their front legs to relieve pain, roll, kick, look at their abdominal area, lay down and/or refuse to rise. Death can be imminent at this stage.
A Horse may at any Stage refuse to eat or drink.
14 Subjects had 31 events of Colic. During each event the Observer was instructed how to admister the formula, then told to note, journal or record everything that occurred after their Subject was found with physical signs of Clinical Stages1-3 of Colic by doing the following;
Starting with the bottle marked PART 1 Observer administered to their subject, 5-10 minutes apart, using a 1-4 bottle sequence, the 4 PART Formula by mouth, using a 60cc oral syringe.
The response time to each part was recorded by observer as it was ingested. Conclusions, based on the following 4 Happenstance Causes set down by the Lab in Nova Scotia was Effected and eliminated by the 4 PART formula.
- Distention in all 31 events
- Electrolyte Imbalance and/or loss in all 31 events
- In 26 events, Fecal and/or Fecal Sand Impactions
- Dehydration of Bowel tissue in all 31 events
14 Subjects after ingesting PART 1-3 had bowel motility returned and/or increased within 10-30 minutes in 31 events.
11 Subjects after ingesting PART 1-4 had expelled pudding like, then normal fecal matter within 90-120 minutes in each of the 15 events of impactions, and 10 events of gas colic.
3 Subjects after ingesting PART 1-4 had expelled soft fecal matter mixed with sand within 90-200 minutes in each of 6 events of Sand Colic .
In a 1-4 sequence one Part of the 4 PART Formula was noted by each of the 10 Observers Effecting each of the 4 Causes during all 31 events of colic and eliminated them as follows;
PART 1, Effected impacted feces in subjects presenting with an impaction and/or sand impaction Colic.
Eliminating the cause by breaking down in part or whole non-living organic matter, such as feces containg hay, grass, feed, dirt, sand etc.
The elimination process occurred with no apparent harm to any surrounding living tissue. Evidenced by the observer noting no blood or tissue present in the later expelled soft pudding like feces which only contained partial bits of grass, hay etc and/or in 6 events, sand.
PART 2, Effected Dehydrated Bowel Tissue in each subject.
Eliminating the cause by drawing excess body fluid into the dehydrated bowel tissue to fully hydrate them, to a normal state. Evidenced by the Observer noting previously gray gums returning, to normal color and some of the physical signs of Clinical Stages 1-3, no longer present in their subject
Note;
The Longitudinal Muscle Layers lining the Bowels were at this point able, to accept replacement Electrolytes needed, to regain Motility (movement). However; muscles remained inactive or demonstrated no increased activity till PART 3 was ingested.
PART 3, Effected lost Electrolytes which stalled or halted Motility.
Eliminating the cause by restoring electolyte levels and energizing and stablizing energy levels, inside the cells of the Longitudinal & Circular Muscles lining the Coli, to regain motility.
Evidenced by all the observers noting in their Subject within 10-30 minutes after ingestion, returning or increased bowel motility in 31 events. At the point where Observers indicated heard returing or stronger bowel Sounds each of their Subjects began expelling varied amounts of gas and in 3 subjects during 6 events, secreted some watery light colored feces, we supected as partly sand.
Note;
Facts gathered from scientific findings and studies indicate for the Equine Longitudinal & Circular Muscle cells to produce conductive energy, certain electrolytes that exist only in a fluid environment, are needed.
These electrolytes never found in dehydrated muscles, are found in PART 3 of the formula but only replaced when the bowels were fully hydrated as the process in PART 2 of the formula had ended.
PART 4, Effected Distention as it's ingested.
Eliminating the cause by dissipating excessive methane gas within
the goged bowes & reducing them to their normal size.
Note;
Some Observers noted after finding their subject, the abdominal area pouching or swollen , indicating the bowels were gorged with methane gas from impacted stagnate feces. We concluded if there was extensive distention in the subject's abdominal area, after the event began, the gorged bowels had expanded outward, trapping & distending adjoining organs. All the Observers noted visible reduction of the abdominal area in their subject and absence of pain after ingesting PART 4 of the formula.
Note;
We deduced after Subjects expelled varied amounts of Gas during and after each event, that steady increasing Motility was returning their body to a healthy state. All subjects 45-120 minutes after ingesting PART 4 of the formula, presented with no physical signs of Clinical Stages 1-3 and they expelled feces ranging from soft to normal in appearance, in varied amounts, during and after, each event. The opinion of what caused an event as noted by the Observer varied from an injury, stress, training trauma and or show anxiety but we reached no determination, regarding the 31 events recorded.
Final Summation of Study & Test Conclusions.
Based on the 10 observers as each of the 4 PARTS of the formula was administered and ingested within 5-10 minutes apart, the 14 subjects, during 31 events, had the following occur ;
Within 10-30 minutes during 31 events in 14 subjects bowel motility returned and then increased, after ingesting PART 1-4 .
Within 90-120 minutes 10 events of gas and 15 events of impaction colic ended after ingesting PART 1-4.
Within 120-200 minutes during 6 events in 3 subjects with sand colic ended after ingesting PART1-4.
In Conclusion, within 90-200 minutes 31 events ended in unison in
all subjects after ingesting PART 1-4.
Gathered data conclusively indicated as excessive methane gas was dissipated, abdominal pressure and pain from gorged bowels and swollen, trapped adjoining organs was alleviated and as they returned to normal size, motility increased. 14 Subjects presented with no physical signs of trauma, stress, duress or side effects after ingesting PART 1-4 and began eating and drinking after ingesting PART 3.
Note;
We were able to gage accurate Pain levels during an event using
a scale of 1-10, with 1 being mild and 10 being severe after asking each observer to note any physical discomfort in their subject.
All subjects, after each event ended, required no further Vet care or surgical intervention and returned without delay, to training, performing various disciplines or their work routine.
