That said, The Veterinarian Medical Association has classified Colic as a series of Happenstances that
come together to form a Condition, it is not a Disease!
THE FDA & EQUINE COLIC RELIEF

There is no FDA classification for ECR or other natural products, you give a horse, like the electrolytes to increase thirst and prevent dehydration, Biotin products to treat founder and promote hoof growth, Diatomaceous earth products to use in place of wormer and insecticides, Colic Preventative products, Weight Gain products, Mare Care products and etc.
All these commonly used products, unless they are made by company that is registered with the FDA, is required to bear the FDA disclaimer as a non evaluated product, unapproved drug and/or an adulterated drug.
The FDA, determines what the product is by its ingredients or what's stated on the manufacturer's label and what is printed in material about it. If a manufacturer's states for example on their website all their products are FDA approved, they indeed could be and then again, the company paid $$$$$$$ to be registered with the FDA!
However; if a company is unwilling to pay the FDA to be registered, to sell their products, the FDA requires the label to bear a disclaimer. This simply states the product has not been evaluated by the FDA. So as it is with the government, it's always about how much money you pay them, not about your product being safe or not!
The last statement in 2008 made by the FDA's, Center of Veterinarian Medicine, was about medicines and/or products unapproved use as animal health product.
